How can we show up for new moms?

GROUND Wellbeing is on a mission to address our inner world, focusing on how we feel. Founder, Peigin Crowley, is on a quest to understand how to balance and align ourselves in order to achieve longevity, being passionate about purposeful self care and the education required to look after ourselves.

GROUND have very kindly share some practical and accessible ways in which we can help new moms, help that will benefit them physically, mentally and emotionally.

Offer practical help: New mums often feel overwhelmed and exhausted, so offering practical assistance can be invaluable. This might involve helping with household chores, cooking meals, or even just offering to hold the baby while the mum takes a break.

Listen and validate: Becoming a mum can be a challenging and emotional experience, so it’s important to be a supportive listener. Simply acknowledging and validating a mum’s feelings and experiences can be incredibly helpful.

Offer emotional support: Being a new mum can be isolating, so offering emotional support is crucial. This might involve checking in regularly, offering a listening ear, or just being there to provide a sense of companionship.

Show kindness and empathy: Above all, showing kindness and empathy is essential. A little bit of kindness can go a long way in helping a new mum feel supported and cared for during this challenging time.

*A reminder to enter our competition with GROUND Wellbeing – to raise awareness for Maternal Mental Health Week. To enter, view @ground_wellbeing previous post.
