Curraghchase Forest Park is approximately 20km from Limerick City .. over 700 acres nestled between Adare and Askeaton.
It is one of those places that once people have visited, they are already looking forward to their next visit… local families make regular use of a park with loads to do and the only payment is €5 for the car park .. visitors from further afield are amazed by the beauty and variety of woodlands, parkland and lakes to be discovered.
There are numerous looped walks which are well displayed and are set up to suit all needs … buggy and wheelchair accessible trials and longer trails for a more challenging walk or cycle.
The park offers so many things for a family day out … vast areas of freedom for kids to run around, ducks and swans in the pond, play area, fairy trail, plenty for nature lovers to discover, historical features such as a cairn, standing stone and ringforts .. and of course the ruins of the grand de Vere family house.
There are endless options of places to stop and have food …. picnics (grass or tables) or you can avail of their barbecue pits (great idea!) or there’s a cafe if you don’t want to bring your own supplies (Summer months and weekends) In essence .. if you are a lover of the outdoors then you will love Curraghchase Park!
Locals tips .. bring coins for the car park, a bin bag for your rubbish to take it home and if someone is looking to stay overnight.. check out Curraghchase campsite!
