The East Cork Edit

“We have lived in the beautiful area of East Cork for the past 7 years and while we are still discovering hidden gems, we have a well-worn path made to some of our favourite spots.

A regular for us is spending an afternoon in and around Rostellan & Aghada waterfront. The People’s Path runs along between the road and the sea from Rostellan all the way to Whitegate village which is approx. 5km and is buggy friendly. It’s lovely to park up at Rostellan Lake and walk from there to the pier in Lower Aghada along the water. In Rostellan, Rostellan Chocolate offers a coffee and something sweet in its beautiful courtyard!

There is a small convenience shop on the pier to stock up on icecreams, coffee and snacks. The views around here are beautiful and if you feel like making a day of it The Pepperstack Bistro offers up a fabulous menu and Sunday lunch.

If a walk in the woods is more your style then you will find what you are looking for just down the road past the GAA pitch at Rostellan Woods. We bring our boy for short walks here and because its not too rough he can easily run along there without getting caught up in. It is buggy friendly for the most part and perfect for introducing your very little ones to a taste of adventure.

Further down the road from Aghada towards Trabolgan is the picturesque village of Whitegate complete with pubs, shop, chipper and the all important playground! The village playground is equipped with a wheelchair accessible swing and has plenty of climbing, slides, swings and a small zip wire.

Views of the sea come by the bucket load around here and Inch beach along with many others are just a short drive away.

Surfing lessons are available at Inch and if you get there early in the morning the beach is usually very quiet and makes for a great stroll or run around for little feet when the tide is out. As always keep a watchful eye out for the currents in the water there.

Midleton offers plenty of options for making a pit stop on your way home.
And so much more awaits .. Ballycotton, Youghal, Shanagarry, Roches Point, Cobh, @fotawildlife and more.
