The Great (Garden) Escape at Faithlegg

Escape to the stunning country house Faithlegg in Co. Waterford and spend

Escape to the stunning country house Faithlegg in Co. Waterford and spend two nights in the beautiful property with dinner and a visit to one of the spectacular gardens in Waterford, Lafcadio Hearne Japanese Gardens, Curraghmore House & Gardens, or Mount Congreve, known as one of the ‘Great Gardens of the World’.

Enjoy the lush green Waterford countryside in all its glory and check-in to one of their gorgeous rooms of the original 18th century manor house or the elegant contemporary wing. Conveniently located a scenic drive from Faithleg, are three stunning gardens to discover, havens for plant & history lovers alike as well as for those simply looking to relax in nature.

The Lafcadio Hearne Japanese Gardens (23 minute drive) these authentic Japanese gardens are set in the charming seaside town of Tramore and reflect the life and extensive wanderings of Patrick Lafcadio Hearn, the Greek-Irish writer and teacher who spent much of his life in Japan and introduced his adopted Japanese culture to the West through his extensive writings.

Curraghmore House & Gardens (35 minute drive)  is the spectacular home of the 9th Marquis of Waterford and his ancestors since 1170. An impressive 1,000 acres of formal gardens, woodland and grazing fields and Ireland’s largest private demesne is situated near Portlaw. Discover the historic grounds from a Sitka spruce planted on the estate in the 1830s, now one of the tallest trees in Ireland and stands guard over King John’s Bridge, which was built in 1205. Visitors can take a guided tour of Curraghmore House, detailing the house and family history, viewing the original interior including a vast furniture and art collection.

From the world-renowned Mount Congreve Gardens (25 minute drive), that includes around 70 acres of planted woodlands, their garden wall and several stunning walkways. Boasting one of the largest private collections of plants globally and described as ‘A Great Garden of the World’, the entire collection features plants from every continent. Mount Congreve House, home to six generations of Congreves, was built in 1760 by the celebrated local architect John Roberts who was also responsible for the magnificent design of the original Faithlegg mansion.

Enjoy dining at the award-winning Roseville Rooms restaurant during your stay at Faithlegg, where you will get to feast on some of the best produce Ireland has to offer, cooked by Executive Chef Jenny Flynn and her team, with a hearty breakfast to enjoy each morning.

The Great Garden Escape at Faithlegg includes a two-night midweek stay with breakfast each morning, dinner on one night in the Roseville Rooms restaurant, a pass to one of Waterford’s must-see garden experiences (choose from Lafcadio Hearne Japanese Gardens, Curraghmore House & Gardens, or Mount Congreve) plus a wildflower welcome card to take home and plant in your own garden, costs from €450 for 2 people sharing.
