While we are celebrating all things Family Friendly in Kildare, we asked Families to share their favourite playgrounds in Kildare with us, and here’s where they chose:
RACHAEL @the_turret_house
Castledermot Playground is among of our favourites. It’s one of the largest playgrounds in Kildare but also a hidden gem, with activities to keep both your toddler and your pre-teen entertained for the afternoon. Not often you can please everyone in the house.
Just two minutes walk from the playground is the fabulous Mad Hatter Café @cafemadhatter9 that we like to hit for hot chocolates on the way home. Just divine.

Timahoe Playground: For something smaller & quiet with lots of parking, very well kept, super safe playground with something for all ages.. including basketball rings and zip line for older kids. Good size grass area for spring/summer picnics & kicking a ball around.
Although like many playgrounds, no toilet facilities – that’s the only thing.
MELISSAH @themindofamammy
Our local one in Kilcullen is lovely, lots to do, super clean, lots of parking, and the coffee hatch is located directly across from it too – caffeine for mom, play time for the kiddies it’s a win win!
TRÍONA @triona_earlyyearsinsights
Moone Playground: One of our favourite playgrounds to go to is Moone, we’re very lucky to live near it. It’s a beautiful, quiet playground with equipment made from natural materials. It was fairly small but over the last few years it has had new play frames added which are a huge hit with the kids.
It’s also set in a large green area surrounded by trees which is a plus for me as the parent who has to sit and supervise, I like a place that feels good for all of us.
To make it even better, there is a lovely community run cafe @pierscafemoone across the road with coffee and tasty food as well as local makers art.

The playground in Prosperous is fantastic. It’s newly built and has a good range of activities for kids of all ages. The sand and diggers are the biggest hit for us. There is plenty of parking and a shop & coffee shop across the road so it’s really handy to get snacks.

The playground we love is our local peoples park in Athy. It has slides, swings, sand area, zip line and a small adventure course. It is lovely on a summers day to bring picnic along as their are plenty of tables. It is next to the train station so perfect for families coming to Athy by train.

My kids are aged between 3 and 9 and their favourite playground is in Sallins . It caters for all ages. From sandpits, to swings to a cool climbing frame and slide for the older kids. It’s close to the train station. My 3 year old is obsessed with trains and gets so excited as they are flying by.
There are lots spots for take out coffee nearby and even a walk on the canal if you fancy it.
