Thanks so much to @amotherstale_ for her great recommendation for this week’s family friendly spot to visit … Turlough Park House in Co. Mayo.
This is a free day out that has been listed as suitable for newborn to 103 years old!! Sounds pretty suitable for a family day out so!!
It’s located in Turlough, just outside Castlebar. There’s a beautiful lake, a round tower ruin, a forest walk, lovely grassy areas to sit around with a picnic blanket and a new playground which was only officially opened recently.
The National Country Life Museum is there with a cafe inside … where they apparently do great coffee (worth a visit alone!!) Admission to all four sites of the Museum is free, providing such a wonderful, interactive resource and opportunity to introduce kids to parts of the history of their country … there are artefacts, videos explanation and hands-on items for kids.
A wonderful family gem in Co. Mayo, whether you’re local or visiting for holidays!
