Description
Adventure, Sport and New Friendships – All in One Brilliant Week!
Looking for a summer camp that keeps your child active, social and excited to head out the door each morning?
The Alive Outside Summer Camp: Swords at Coláiste Choilm is designed for children aged 7-13 and bring a full week of sport, adventure and creativity to this fantastic new North Dublin venue. With spacious outdoor areas and indoor facilities, children have plenty of room to run, play, build and explore every day – whatever the Irish weather brings!
Each day brings a different mix of activities, keeping attention and energy levels high from start to finish. One moment they might be playing team games, the next building shelters, solving codes, creating flags, racing in the Alive Outside Olympics or planning tactics for Lazer Tag. It’s busy, varied and designed so children stay fully involved.
Children are grouped by age and supported by experienced instructors who focus on encouragement and participation. Many arrive not knowing anyone – by the end of the week, they leave with new friendships and plenty of stories to tell!
🏕️ About Alive Outside
Alive Outside is Ireland’s premier outdoor adventure centre and home to the infamous Hell & Back obstacle course events and Ireland’s Fittest Family TV show. We’ve been running children’s camps in Killruddery and Rathgar since 2017 – and we’re excited to bring our unique camp experience to the northside of Dublin for the first time – Summer Camp: Swords in Coláiste Choilm.
Our camps are trusted by thousands of parents every year and are designed to give children one of the best outdoor summer camp experiences in Dublin – active, social and confidence-building.
A full day outdoors, new friendships and adventures to talk about at home – because summer should be spent moving, laughing and exploring, not just on devices. Get Active, Get Alive Outside!
🧠 A Balance That Works
Each day at Summer Camp: Swords blends movement, creativity and thinking:
Active sports and team games
Outdoor challenges and exploration
Creative building and problem-solving tasks
Strategy-based missions and group challenges
This balance keeps sporty children engaged while also giving quieter or creative children their moment to shine.
🚌 Special Highlight: Day Trip Adventure to Killruddery!
Every week includes a Day Trip (with bus) to our iconic Adventure Centre in Killruddery, home to Hell & Back Junior and Ireland’s Fittest Family TV show. For many children, it becomes the part of the week they talk about all summer!
On the day, children take part in a real outdoor adventure programme in a purpose-built setting, including:
Hell & Back Junior obstacle challenges – climbing, crawling and tackling fun outdoor obstacles designed for confidence and plenty of laughs
Outdoor team missions – problem-solving and teamwork challenges where groups work together to complete tasks and succeed
Large-scale group activities – energetic games in a wide open adventure environment
It’s a chance to break away from the usual camp setting at Coláiste Choilm, experience activities in a true outdoors environment and enjoy a memorable day with camp mates.
⚛️ Adventure-Led STEM
Our Summer Camp: Swords programme offers something for every child, whether they enjoy sport, creativity, teamwork or problem-solving. For 2026, we’ve added new activities alongside fresh twists on favourites like Bubble Football, Lazer Tag and the Alive Outside Olympics.
Our new Adventure-Led STEM programme (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is built into the activities rather than taught like a lesson. Children solve challenges through missions and teamwork, developing practical thinking skills while they play.
There are no worksheets and no classroom feel. Instead, STEM concepts are woven into high-energy activities where learning happens naturally through action. It’s hands-on, engaging and builds confidence and curiousity without children even realising they’re learning.
