Delighted to share another guest post. This time from Sarah Sweeney a lovely Mama who contacted me on the @buggywalksire Facebook page. Details of the walk and photos were provided by Sarah. Go raibh míle maith agat!
Today we decided to see what Balrath Woods was all about and we were positively surprised. Balrath woods is situated just off the R153.
Once you have passed through Kentstown continue driving for 5 minutes then take a right turn. From here the woods are signposted. There is a good sized car park off the main road and from there you can see the entrance to Balrath Woods.
On arrival there is a big and little people honesty library where you can bring a book and take another one for it! (How cool is this!)
Once you pass the gate you are on a solid tarmac path which is very buggy friendly indeed. There is a small incline here bringing you up to a wide area with picnic facilities and the start of the easy walk. This path is ideal for toddlers, wobblers, buggies and kids of all ages as the path is solid and smooth. There are also some playground items scattered along the route such as a swing etc.
All in all Balrath Woods is a great little adventure with different walks catering for buggies and fitness levels. Even on a wet day its great fun to jump along in wellies.
Many thanks to Sarah and her family for exploring Balrath Woods and sharing their experience with us.
