Spanish Point is a sandy beach located in County Clare. The beach is popular for swimming and surfing; there are a few surfing schools around. Lifeguards are available during the busy seasons. It's better not to swim when there are no lifeguards, as the current can get very strong and dangerous. There are a few hotels & restaurants nearby for visitors to eat & stay. There are public toilet and car parking facilities. An ideal place to visit with kids & family, enjoy some relaxing walk, doing watersports activities, etc.
The beach is named after the fleet of ships that formed the Spanish Armada. Many of these were shipwrecked nearby during a storm in the year 1588 on the return from their unsuccessful attempt to invade Britain. Most of the survivors who made it to shore were executed by Queen Elizabeth I’s government in Dublin.
