‘Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes’ by Mem Fox and Helen Oxenbury

Looking for a book to cuddle up and read to your baby

Looking for a book to cuddle up and read to your baby … or looking for a book to give as a present to someone with a new baby? Then you’ve got to check out this adorable book ‘Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes’, written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury.

It is possibly our favourite baby book to read to the baby before bedtime (the older two love it as well!) The illustrations are beautiful, using calm, muted tones. The rhythmic phrases are full of sentiment and love, drawing attention to all the different babies who really are all the same because of their ten little fingers and ten little toes.

This action of showing and counting their little fingers and toes comes to a beautiful ending with the most special baby of all … your baby … who….

“as everyone knows,
has ten little fingers,
ten little toes,
and three little kisses
on the tip of its nose”
